I have recently switched from Photoshop Elements, which I loved, to its big brother Photoshop CS2.  It is quite a conversion but has a lot of rewards in the functionality for editing photos and a few differences for digital scrapbooking.  One of the real frustrations when you convert is not having the photo bin at the bottom of your active screen with all the bits you are using nicely conveniently placed to pick and choose from.

Well I mentioned the bug bear in a online forum today fully expecting to be flamed by all the Photoshop converts and Mandy (an absolute scrapping legend over at DSP) put me onto the AV Bros, Collector software.  You can find it here, its absolutely free, they don’t even take your email and contact details, and it is brilliant.

It takes seconds to install, you unzip it and move it into the presets/scripts folder of your Photoshop installation then when you want to use it:

  • Open the photos or elements you want to work with
  • Create a new PSD file and make it the active one
  • Under file / scripts, there it is, just click to run
  • If you have a heap of files open you may want to go back and close them (Mandy did actually have the suggestion to create a script to do that automatically but I’m ashamed to say that will be another day as I haven’t figured out how)

This is definitely my find of the week!
